a holiday thank you

Since mainly all of our family and good friends don't live in Hawaii, Lucas received many holiday gifts through the mail.  I am a believer in good gestures, and a handwritten thank you note is more special than an email - {especially when making baby's first Christmas extra special}.  I ordered these personalized note cards from the etsy shop, Celebrate the Little Things.

I'm totally loving the new addition from 100 Layer Cake, it's called 100 Layer Cake-let.  They just started it up, so if you haven't discovered it yet, it's a must to bookmark.  It's a family site, dedicated to kids birthday party ideas, maternity photography, kids crafts, and modern nursery decor. It's what i'm lovin'....

{8 months}

Oh my, where have I been??  What's that saying again... oh, yes... time sure flies by when you're having fun.  Lucas is now eight months old.  I - can't - believe - it - !!!
Things are pretty busy in our neck of the woods, in an little island called Oahu, HI.  The hubby is not home at the moment.  I tell Lucas that he's out on an adventure with work, which is true.  To all the single mom's out there, I pat your back and give you high five's cause wow, having a lil' one alone is busy... busy...

7 months

It's amazing on how much my seventh month old baby Lucas is not the newborn baby Lucas we brought home from the hospital.  He is crawling full speed, standing up at any chance possible, knows that feeding time consists of three delicious meals of breakfast/lunch/dinner, with bottles in between, and has three {almost four} teeth.
Everyday is filled with a new memory, a new insight, a new image.
I can not wait to see what's instore for this month.

With today being the last day of 2012, it's always a time to reflect and remember all of the good memories and moments the year had brought us.  For me, it was the year of new beginnings with the birth of my son Lucas Kane.  I can't imagine my life without my lil' one.  He is for sure my highlight of 2012.
Happy New Year!

some holiday fun {and a new tradition}

Last week, Lucas went and saw Santa.  He was a bit unsure on who this old man was, who was wearing a red suit and glasses.  And that long white beard...
He sat on his lap, and was a-okay.  But then he turned to look at him and cried.  Not a scorching scream, but a cry that lasted only a few seconds.

As for our new holiday tradition, we will be decorating our Denson Ohana {means family in Hawaiian} gingerbread house every year.  Lucas decorated this one all - by - himself... just kidding.  The gingerbread house is from Williams Sonoma.

baby food & a crawler

Every parent may decide differently, but we opted to wait to start feeding Lucas veggies and fruits until he was six months.  While I was pregnant, I purchased the Beaba Baby Cook to make Lucas homemade baby food.  It's so simple to use, and it literally is such a breeze to make him fresh, food.  So far I've used it to make: sweet potatoes, peas (which he did not like), pears and carrots.  On the menu this week are apples.

Received from a friend were these two cookbooks, which I love: Cooking for Baby & Top 100 Baby Purees
And here's my lil' crawler...

pillow time

pillow time

I was in dire need of some new decorative pillows for my couch.  Luckily, all of the pillows on West Elm's site are 30% off, plus they were offering free shipping on the day that I ordered them.  These are the four pillows I purchased, now I only have to wait for them to arrive.
